2024 Show Dog Feature wrap up

Double Coat Favorites

With Double-Coated Breeds, we often focus on volumizing, de-shedding, or both! Some of our favorite products include our de-shedding and detangling shampoos and conditioners, thinning shears for trimming with a more natural finish, and chalks and sprays for finishing touches at the show.

Drop Coat Favorites

Our recommendations for Drop-Coated Breeds focus on the needs of show dogs in full, long, luxurious coat! While some drop coats are softer than others, our focus is on protecting the coat, using products that increase manageability and longer-pinned brushes for the longer coat.

Scissored Coat Favorites

For Scissored-Coat Breeds, we often think of the Poodle but many other breeds – Bichon Frise, Kerry Blue Terriers, Portuguese Water Dogs – can fit into this category. High quality combs, clippers, and straight and curved shears are our stars here, but equally as important are products for coat maintenance and show finishing touches.

Setter/Spaniel Coat Favorites

Setter/Spaniel-Coated Breeds are an interesting, somewhat “combination” coat type; with drop, flowing furnishings, shorter coat on the legs, and a jacket. We recommend many products to accommodate this including rakes, knives and bristle brushes, long-pinned pin brushes, shears and clippers, and more!

Smooth Coat Favorites

For smooth-coated breeds, grooming shouldn’t be overlooked! Proper care of the skin, coat quality, and coat color are very important for your dog’s appearance (and well-being!). Be sure to bring out your smooth-coated dog’s coat color and shine with some of our favorite products.

Wire Coat Favorites

With wire-coated breeds, maintaining the hard, wire texture is our focus. We recommend stripping tools – knives, rakes, stones, etc. - for handstripping alongside bathing and grooming products that keep the coat quality and provide the perfect finish for the show ring.
