Annamaet's History
Rob Downey, President of Annamaet Petfoods Inc., brings to the Petfood Industry the unique combination of a broad scope of knowledge in the field of nutrition as well as a lifelong involvement with dogs. In addition, the tireless efforts of Rob's wife and co-founder, Mary Jo, have brought Annamaet to the peak of pet nutrition! This legacy of care and commitment can now extend into the lives of your pets in the form of Annamaet products.
Rob has dedicated many years studying nutrition to improve the health and well being of your canine companions. His publications include: Downey, R.L., Kronfeld, D.S., and Banta, C.A., "Diet of Beagles Affects Stamina." Journal of American Animal Hospital Association, Vol. 16 (1980), pp.273-7. In addition to Rob's expertise, Annamaet Petfoods has a board certified Verterinary Nutritionist on staff as well.
Annamaet was named after Rob's mother, Anna Mae, who had a real soft spot in her heart for animals. After months of formulating and testing, the first bag was actually sold on her birthday in 1986.

Their products are holistic and Annamaet maintains strict standards of quality control. All meat and fish used in their formulas are passed fit for human consumption. All of their products are corn, wheat, and soy free. Annamaet's products also now contain algae! Algae is a stable and totally sustainable source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Designed for optimum health, their grain free canine formulas can also help ear, skin and coat issues as well as chronic digestive problems.

Why Annamaet Lean?
Obesity is the number one health problem in dogs today and mimics the trends in humans. At Annamaet, they feel there needs to be a feeding option and plan for those dogs prone to being overweight. After consultation with a veterinary nutritionist, Annamaet made a product with superior ingredients and all of the attributes of a weight control diet (high protein, low fat, additional carnitine, and omega 3 fatty acids) without all of the fiber. In an effort to help their customers, you will find two feeding instructions. For those customers that want to be able to feed more to their normal active dogs, there are "normal feeding directions;" for those dogs struggling with weight problems, there are "obese prone feeding directions."
